Criminally underseen
Based only on the first half hour of the movie, this would be a must-buy. Jeff Bridges survives a plane crash and we see him in the immediate aftermath making a series of bold choices. I can't think of an earlier movie that uses the tools of cinema to depict dissociation, post-traumatic stress, and the sense memories involved. Bridges and Rosie Perez give brave and complicated performances that honestly should be talked about more. Everything is so strong here. I can see why it's not as well-known but I do not accept its obscurity as a continuing reality. Please watch.

Underseen gem
I’ve seen almost all of Peter Weir’s movies but not this until I ordered it. Terrific surprise – really underappreciated.
