I'm generally selective about what I like in a backpack, and little details can turn into huge frustrations and ultimately dealbreakers. For every bag that I thought I would keep for a long time, I unfortunately decided that it wasn't for me. The Roy Pack seems to check many, many boxes, improving upon other backpacks that I liked but eventually sold, and there doesn't seem to be a backpack out there that can replace this one.
The Roy Pack is currently the only backpack I have seen with a sleek, minimalist look that is 1) small enough for everyday carry, 2) can maintain its appearance when overpacked, 3) doesn't skimp on essential organization like a QAP and internal pockets, and 4) smells like new after a month of daily use. The animal leather is fantastic.
My main nitpick is that the next version should be better at self-standing, which currently depends on how you pack. I would also like to see improved interior structure (no doubt that the material is of good quality, just needs to be more rigid) and a redesigned top handle that sticks out less. Key loop is also admittedly difficult to find and use.
Otherwise it's tough to find a bag any better for my daily needs. And the best part about owning this backpack is that you're getting one handmade in the USA by a great person who goes above and beyond what many brands do to achieve incredible transparency and customer service. You will not see anything anywhere on the Internet that explains the cost and manufacturing process as adequately and articulately as Mrs. Marc. So I was certainly confident and all-in when I made my purchase.

I’m really loving this bag!
1. It’s comfortable. If your bag isn't comfortable what are we even doing here with the other features? Am I right? This bad is comfortable and when I just have my work laptop and water bottle inside it kind of feels like nothings on.
2. Love the front vertical QAP. This bag rotates perfectly under my right shoulder and I can access it one handed. **chefs kiss
3. Vegan leather. I’m vegan and think the cactus leather is really neat!

I really wanted to get something for my partner that could hold a laptop, external monitor, water bottle, notebook, and a jacket. He has sensitive shoulders and finds most backpacks uncomfortable unless they have wide supportive straps. He was previously using a Brown Buffalo Conceal Pack which he really liked, but wanted something more structured for holding a water bottle and a more secure place to put an external monitor or tablet.
I bought the Roy pack and it ended up being the perfect bag for him-- the tech compartment is so thoughtfully arranged, and it fits everything he needs perfectly. It fits an external monitor and a laptop securely, with room for chargers and other small things. The main compartment fits a wide variety of EDC goods, but it's great that a water bottle fits securely. He cannot stop raving about how comfortable the bag is and how good it looks. It truly is the perfect bag for him.
The craftsmanship on the bag is insanely good - Marc puts his whole heart into the bags and it really shows! Every stitch is perfect - as a bagmaker I am in awe of Marc's design and sewing skills.
I can wholeheartedly recommend this bag for anyone who loves quality bags, needs to carry 2 laptops or a laptop and external monitor securely, or just wants the nicest looking EDC bag around. As a bonus you'll be supporting a really quality human as well!
