Sorghum and Forage Oats
We are trying to start some sort of prairie on our land below or lane. It was just a jungle and we had a guy come in with a brush cutter and chew everything up. We cleaned everything up and sprayed the entire area to get rid of all the weeds. Prepared the soil so it was ready to plant. I liked the sorghum as I saw it along roadways in MI. We planted that along with the forage oats. Also mixed in some food plot seed in one area that has rye, winter wheat, crimson clover and all sorts of stuff. Watered it religiously and it all came up beautifully. It's about 8" tall now and looks like a thick green carpet. Seems to have choked out all of the weeds and that's exactly what I wanted. Very pleased with the results. If the deer want to have a snack, that's ok too.
