Stormguard Shell Outside Tap Cover

A good but flawed idea.

I live in the northeast of Scotland and so always use tap protectors during winter. However, most of these are susceptible to UV degradation and only last a couple of years. The Stormguard seemed like a good idea but do not fit all taps requiring the removal of adaptors etc so not ideal if you use your taps during winter. I also had to modify the protector to fit over exposed and insulated pipework to the tap. The final and perhaps most important issue is that during the first snow of the year the weight of snow on the protector caused them to descend and create a void that filled with snow and surrounded the tap! Luckily, I also turn off the water supply to the taps.

This beats my Heath Robinson efforts for protecting my outdoor tap. Quick delivery too.
