Some joints could be tighter

There's no real top and bottom but when you take a close look the shelf joinery has gaps. I chose the orientation where amin number of gaps show. Good quality wood, poplar. A hardwood that is generally painted due wide color variances. The wood was closely matched so I put 2 coats of a clear finish on all surfaces. Looks good.
