10" Touchscreen Head Unit for Toyota Hilux Surf / 4Runner KZN185 / RZN185 / VZN185 | 3rd Gen 96-02

The Product: This head unit does exactly what I was needing it to. Connectivity to android auto works well to give me maps and tunes, as well as having hands free calling. There's a lot of customisability for various things in the UI which is a nice touch. So far everything works as it should and was pretty much a start and go setup. Sound quality sounded a bit muted compared to the original radio but this was resolved by adjusting the EQ settings within the EQ app. The install: Install did require some minor trimming of the housing to fit into the surf fascia. I managed to do this pretty cleanly with a file. Looks quite smart and "OEM+" once it's in. Personally I'd say it's maybe a little big visually but I haven't found it affects usage of the auto gear stick or 4wd and I have actually appreciated having a larger screen for maps. The tabs to secure the head unit were initially a bit unclear but became obvious once I figured out the idea was to essentially clamp the new unit and surround to the old fascia rather than having clips or brackets as per older style BT head units. All the wiring was plug and play from there. Note I haven't yet installed the reverse camera but all the parts are there and all seems simple enough, but is definitely the most involved requiring splicing wires and either crimping or soldering. Therefore for anyone looking for 100% plug and play it's worth noting that if you can't or don't want to muck with the wiring, this part of the install may be best left to an auto electrician.

Great head unit we t in real easy, once you connect wirelessly once it does it automatically every time. Massive upgrade for the older wagon.

Easy to install, works well. Still need to fit the reversing camera but very happy with the unit.
