Better Planning with Guide
Been to Mexico many times, but they were years ago. Newest guide on Mexico provided updated information & suggestions for visits to new sites. Miss greater number of suggestions for accommodations, as in older book editions. Still, Lonely Planet is our “go to” guide book.

It’s been my go to travel guide for 30 years.

Still good, but not as good as it used to be
Lonely Planet provides a fine compendium of places to go and things to do in Mexico. It seems less oriented to budget travelers than it originally was. My favorite thing, and the reason I bought Lonely Planet guides were the detailed reviews of places to stay in three different budget categories. I arrived at a rule of thumb for picking a hotel, which was to take the second hotel listed in the mid-range category. It never failed to be an economical and interesting hotel. I also miss the detailed descriptions on getting around by bus, especially the small places where the trip took a little figuring. It's still a good guide though.
