A Terrible Book
I have used LP guides for nearly 30 years. This is no longer the same publication. I am disgusted by what arrived in the mail. No detailed information on any aspect of travel, no accommodations, no bus schedules, nothing for the independent traveler, or an other type of traveler for that matter. Just bullet points, fancy photos and superficial gloss. It's bad, real bad. In fact, I would like a refund. It appears to be a guidebook generated by AI, and most probably was. This company no longer represents what Lonely Planet was, and this type of book is irrelevant, useless and unnecessary. Anyone can look up the fluff printed on these pages online in 5 minutes. LP used to offer the nitty gritty, the tips for the more independent, more adventurous traveler. The little details, like accommodation lists, bus schedules, maps, personal experiences, offbeat suggestions, and the like. This book is nothing. Since this is the new face of LP, it will most certainly be the last I ever purchase.
