Red City (Exclusive OwlCrate Edition)

Pretty but not functional

One of the nicest editions of Red City I've seen (it's only competitor, imho, has yet to release). However, the part I liked most was the reverse dustjacket and unfortunately whatever material was used to make the dustjackets does not want to be touched or refolded. Reversing the jacket just one time caused white crease lines along both sides of the folds, and the beginnings of a tear on one of the upper corners. It sadly just isn't feasible to choose the 'option' of the reverse jacket unless you want the jacket to start falling apart or ruin the artwork. I was very disappointed - I have not had this issue reversing dustjackets from other limited edition book companies. The story itself is ok. It's not Marie Lu's best work. Only one of the dual protagonists actually has a character arc. Reader enjoyment of the story will also depend on whether they believe the central romance, but for me the relationship as teens did not come across as close or strong as the story later tries to convince you it was.

This is going to be my next read. Waiting patiently on my the stack. Can’t wait to read the gorgeous book trophy!
