I'm selling my ultra sonic record cleaner!

I first started collecting records in 2021. Since then I’ve always been on the look out for the most effective way to clean records to get the best sound. I’ve tried a few cleaning methods starting with the spin clean record washer, the Groovewasher cleaning kit, and most recently the HumminGuru ultrasonic cleaner. Out of the three, the HumminGuru definitely helped reduce the amount of surface noise of a record, however I was still left with a number records where I couldn’t remove stubborn pops and crackles. These albums were visibly near mint, however for me, records with noisy backgrounds always detracted from the music and I often gave up and shelved them thinking I would need to replace it with a better copy. I recently bought the Record Restore Box starter kit and to my absolute delight, this stuff actually works! There was a noticeable difference in sound for records where I had previously tried cleaning with other methods and had given up on. I was really impressed with the results. There’s been a few records which needed another treatment, but for the most part one application was all it took to remove unwanted background noise of pops and crackles, and restore a record to it’s original audio potential. Another bonus, Record Restore also gets rid of static! Brilliant! I found both the video and manual easy to follow, and after a few albums I quickly got the hang of applying the gel onto the record and ensuring it was evenly coated on both sides. Easy does it on the rotation speed! I like the fact that it’s a gentle and simple process to apply the gel, and once set and dry, it’s easy to peel off. The box set is a must! It provides everything you need, and having the spin platter and record stacker makes life a lot easier. I’m definitely going to continue using Record Restore on the rest of my collection. Bottom line, Record Restore works! Buy it, watch the video, read the manual and rediscover those gems you had given up on.

Steep learning curve, especially with the edges of a record. I think I have worked out the best way to apply the film close to the record edge now. The cleaned surfaces are amazing and there is an obvious sonic improvement. I think that a combination of this film and ultrasonic cleaning is the ideal way to get the best out of vinyl.

First use of the starter box. Early days.

Today I trialed record restore with 5 albums which I had set aside due to static. They had been cleaned a few years ago. Results were promising. A little static remained but I think the sound quality improved. It's hard to tell by what extent but improvement yes. It's a little tricky to remove the product and if you do not get it all in one go it's a bit messy. Practice required. I wonder if cleaning up little bit with the sticky tape leaves a residue which could be picked up by the stylus??
