Exceeded all expectations!
I don't really have anything negative to say about this. Materials are top notch, operation is easy and intuitive. Holds my 28lb Cadex without issue at any angle. I was eyeing the S2 quite carefully, but the leg length was a bit long to carry in an Eberlestock pack and i'd have to bend down to make small adjustments to height on the legs - which i'm not a fan of. But the S3 fits the bill perfectly. It's collapsible, easy to negotiate. The tension on the ball head is easily adjustible with the large handle and a lot of thought went into the head (similar to competitors in this space) and i love it. Two items stand out if i had to nitpick - and they are both minor. 1. The bubble level should face the user. Not forward, in my opinion 2. The leg detent lockouts are sprung. But the springs in them seem weak for the task. Even if they fail, it won't really affect the function of the tripod - sure. And this is an unsubstantiated concern - but i think super long term, those springs should have a higher weight to them. I wouldn't hesitate to buy this tripod, you will be impressed no matter which tripod you are coming from. And at a price point which is much more reasonable compared to some competitors.
