Perfect! Wittner 801 Gloss Mahogany
I'm very pleasantly surprised! First, at the precision - I checked the tempos with both a stopwatch and with a quartz metronome, at slow, moderate, and fast tempos, and it is spot-on. But most important, it is dead-even. Pretty much every old wood metronome I've encountered plays tok-tok, tok-tok, tok-tok; this one gives a nice, even, tok-tok-tok-tok-tok. And it looks very nice, too! Finally, I ordered it on Saturday, it was shipped Sunday, and it arrived all the way across the country on Wednesday. So I'm really happy with both the metronome and J.S. Fisher.

My Wittner Markel Mahogany wood stained high gloss metronome
I recently purchased my Wittner metronome from J. S. Fisher Violins. It wasn’t in stock when I first inquired, but within two weeks I received an email from Jim Fisher that a new shipment just arrived: I immediately ordered it Thursday afternoon and it arrived on Saturday! Amazingly quick service! I ordered one without the bell option which can be set not to ring or to ring on the first beat of a measure. Fisher’s marketing video demonstrates a nice bell ringing tone but it seems a little overpowering for my tastes. The bell rings quite long; I think Wittner should redesign the ringing to be more muted so as not to ring so boldly. When the metronome is fully un-wound, it takes me approximately 20 cranks of my right hand wrist to fully windup. Set at 120 BPM it will tick along consistently and accurately for about 20-30 minutes then stops promptly; set at a slower BPM it will run longer before needing a rewind. When fully wound-up, it gives me more than enough time to practice my scales, arpeggio and tremolo etudes on my classical guitar. This attractive, high gloss mahogany stained wooden metronome nicely complements my genuine African mahogany wood back and sides of my guitar. It makes both a practical and artistic enhancement in my music studio.
