Excellent quality, scent missed the mark

Chiseled Face shave soap is the best shave experience I've ever had. Good lather, slick, and feels like a million bucks on your face. They have some excellent scents as well, but this one missed for me. It (at least to my nose) smells like salty flowers. I don't like smelling floral, and hoped for a more woodsy, musky odor. I'll order something else from Chiseled Face next time.

A Cold Mossy Oldgrowth Forest

I'll admit it, on first lather I found it rather disappointing. The smell in the pot is very bright and fresh, the geranium and citrus really coming to the fore. Once it lathered up, the difference from that initial impression caught me off guard and colored my opinion. However, after sitting on it and going back in with an open mind, I found my second go to be much, much more pleasant. It's not a traditional coniferous woodsy scent, its much more... damp, but not in a rank musty way, or like crisp petrichor either, but like cool wet moss and dark forest floor. The description is not wrong when it says its more a journey than a scent- highly, highly recommend at least trying the sample. Personally, I think I'll be upgrading to full size here very soon.

New favorite shaving soap

Close your eyes and picture you are walking through a forest with a small creek at your feet. The sun has set and the wind is wafting through the trees as the freshly melted snow gently trickles into a creek. When you inhale, there is a subtle scent of juniper and spruce. That is exactly how this shaving soap smells. Like with all Chiseled Face shaving soaps, it makes a nice smooth lather. Easy to use. I would highly recommend.
