A game changer for measuring
We’ve now purchased three Moasure units, and they have honestly become one of those tools that we didn’t realize how much we needed until we started using them.
I’ve been in landscaping and construction for about 20 years, and like everyone else in the industry, I’ve spent years using measuring wheels, tape measures, stakes, strings, levels, and whatever else we needed to measure a project and figure out grades. We originally bought one Moasure to test it out for estimating patios, retaining walls, drainage work, and other landscape construction projects. It didn’t take long before we realized how useful it was and ended up purchasing two more for our sales team.
The point-to-point measuring alone is great, but being able to measure an entire project while also capturing the elevation changes has been huge for us. Whether we’re figuring out the height of a retaining wall, grades for a patio, drainage elevations, square footage, or just getting accurate measurements of an irregular area, it takes so much of the guesswork out of the process.
It has also been a great tool for training new salespeople and field guys. Instead of trying to teach someone how to pull multiple measurements, run strings, establish elevations, and then piece everything together, Moasure gives them actual measurements and elevation data that we can review together. There’s really no question about where the measurements came from or how we arrived at our quantities.
One of the biggest unexpected benefits has actually been on the sales side. We now include the Moasure PDF with many of our proposals so customers can actually see what we measured and how we came up with the square footage, linear footage, elevations, and quantities in their estimate. It adds another level of transparency and professionalism to the proposal and has become another selling point for us.
After 20 years of doing this with measuring wheels, tapes, stakes, strings, and traditional methods, Moasure has made the entire process faster and easier while giving us better information to work with. It saves time in the field, makes training easier, helps our crews and salespeople stay on the same page, and gives our customers more confidence in what we’re proposing.
We started with one to see if it was worth it. We now own three. I think that probably says it best.
