Day of the Vikings, ARKANE Thriller #5

Excellent standalone read (and my first)

I wanted my first read of J.F. Penn fiction to be visceral with a physical book in my hands. My choice of “Day of the Vikings” paid off with engaging action and relatable main characters in novella form. I curled up to breeze through it in two sittings at favorite cafes. Although part of a series, it was fun and easy to read without feeling lost from lack of special series knowledge. The intense story held my hand with just enough context and explanation to keep things moving. I’m now a fan of Dr. Morgan Sierra and her type of pursuits, wondering what will become of her accidentally new professional partnership with a dynamic psychic. Well done content-wise along with delivering a quality print publication. I’ll keep curling up in favorite cafes to experience more!
