I initially cheeped out and hunted without headphones and had a lot of finds. Reluctantly bought a pair because of traffic noise, now I won't hunt without them-they greatly enhance the experience, and I have found coins I missed before. I initially had problems getting the headphones and the metal detector to connect but after reading the manual it seems you need to remove the original headphones off the detectors system. After that was removed the headphones linked right away and worked perfectly!
