It's nearly perfect! If it didnt have the bills pocket on the back so its a little thinner then it would be perfect. However, the extra layer does add protection and some rigidity (still somewhat flexible). If you got big pockets for your pants and want to carry a sketchbook or field notes sized journals then this is pretty solid. Elastic for the pen is good, construction is good. Pockets are nice and solid. Pens feel very protected in elastic sleeve. Theres actually two pen slots side by side but the second one is partially covered by the sketchbook. A thin pencil or pen would fit in that second pocket with the sketchbook inserted. One pain point is getting cards back out after you put them in. The card slots are deep which does protect the card. But that deepness comes at the cost of digging and picking to get your cards out.

Great product! the wallet part holds all the necessities, cash and cards with plenty of room for a writing utensil of your choice. Plus the wallet protects the sketch book beautifully, no more beat up sketch books in my pocket!
