Different switch wiring for pre-2019 AO Smith motors (or mine was wired weird)
The switch is good quality and comes with all the pieces necessary to install, including strain relief grommets for the wire exits. However when I installed it per the excellent instructions on this site, the motor would only operate in the up position. Digging into this online didn't yield any solutions. My original switch was Advanced Controls model A1734 with different terminal marking, and part of a Hi-n-Dry boat lift installed in 1993. The solution ended up being to use a DMM to measure the connections that hot and neutral (L1 & L2) were connected to at the two positions on the old and new switch, and move the wires accordingly. White and orange were swapped. Now it works fine. I didn't contact Dock Solutions for help, so I won't ding them with a lower rating because I had trouble. Information on boat lift wiring is pretty scarce anywhere, unless you have new equipment. There might not have been a color standard back in 1993.

Nice replacement for a switch gone bad.
I received my lift switch in good condition. The switch works just fine and I was able to put it outside where I needed it. The only thing missing were two screws. Why it only came with 2 stainless cover screws and not 4 (one for each hole) is beyond me. They were not in the box anywhere and didn't fall out when I opened it. They just weren't there. I had to use two screws from my stash of screws to complete the job but other than that the switch was what I expected.
