HA Voice Preview Edition

Neat For Tinkering - Not as Amazing for Production

This little thing is super cool. Got this set up in less than an hour with local STT and TTS on an old PC from marketplace. The mics are fine and the fact it’s got BG noise cancellation is great. You’re gonna need beefy hardware to run this all locally with decent results. I’ve noticed at times I’d need to say the wake word a couple times and sometimes it would mishear me. Might just be my SST model. The hardware itself is amazing for the price and supporting non-profit open source teams is worth the price tag alone.

Works quite well, very easy to setup. Make sure your aware of it’s limitations before you buy it. Very pleased with my purchase.

Barely passable

The HA voice preview edition is certainly a work in progress. While some commands process seamlessly some are a real challenge to your patience. While it recognises some areas initially, it then can’t find them in subsequent commands. It also has difficulty in telling the difference between a light and a fan even when you use an alias. When you ask it to turn on the light, you get a lit room with a tornado as it has turned on the light AND the fan simultaneously. A good exercise in frustration that I’m struggling to recommend.
