The Insider membership seems great. We’re enjoying our Italy book as we plan our next trip. The info is very useful. Looking forward to using my other Insider benefits for ebooks.

Great value for travellers
Being a Lonely Planet Insider can bring great value - with 1 one hard copy book and 3 electronic available as part of your subscription. Only disappointment is they don't warn you when the year ends and you lose your code - a few days' notice or codes that last a little longer before your subscription would have been great. It would also be great if folks could have options with the subscription so, for example, being able to choose 4 e-books instead of 1 hard copy and 3 e-books.

Lonely planet books
I am currently using Italy and Europe.
Unfortunately, they just don’t have the same info that was useful 30 years ago.
They obviously have terrific info generally but the detail you need on the ground when backpacking is not there.
Eg Pompeii /vesuvius - where do you go to get the bus to Vesuvius where are the 2 main bus stops.
Matera … two main bus stops here and here … to book the recross bus, you need to do xyz. The new train station is not working yet as it is still being built even though it shows on the maps etc etc.
