Warrior's Hearth carries a unique aroma unlike other wintry candles. Who would have thought that combining sweet, smokey, and metallic scents together to create a fragrance associated with the Season of Sleep? ...The founder, apparently, and boy does that creativity show!
The most noticeable component of this candle is the caramel and charcoal combination, which works beautifully as the smokiness of the the latter tones down the otherwise powerful sweetness you could expect from the scent of caramel. But the addition of leather was something else, despite it not being the strongest note in this mixture, because it helped bring the iron/metal note out of the background and onto the forefront. This, combined with the smokey-sweet combo, creates a metallic scent that smells anything but unpleasant (think rusted iron or cleaning product) and has you coming back for more.
This delightful cocktail of an aroma had certainly transported me to that very inn mentioned on the label, and I could picture myself sitting right next to that great Celtic or Germanic (or Baltic) warrior warming himself by the hearth. But when I had lit my Northern Woodlands candle and placed it near this one, I had found myself sitting next to him by a fire in the middle of a snow-covered forest. Now that was a union worthy of legend!
While Northern Woodlands may be my darling among the Ancient Winter collection, Warrior's Hearth is a very close second. Nonetheless, I would get both of these again in a heartbeat. These two are wintry scents like no other.
