Had one of these for at least 15 years and decided I wanted a spare. This is easy to get on and off the instrument, rubber quality is good, price is fair. Can stay on instrument for orchestra on/off use. Simple dampening that in my opinion preserves most of original tone quality and has a good volume effect. I don't think I will ever want or need any other mute.

I switched to this mute for solo con sord. for clarity of sound - it doesn’t mute the sound so much that it kills the color. If left on for the whole piece when you don’t need it, it can be distracting by making some rattling noise, but I just take it off when I have the chance, as it is very easy to do so. It’s also great for auditions. Maybe not the most practical gig mute, but I’m very happy with it!
