Best Endpin Holder for Slick Floors
Yeah, I know--cello players become obsessed with endpins, endpin holders, and floor surfaces. Every instrument has its difficulties, and the people who play those instruments become obsessive about tiny fixes. BUT, having your endpin suddenly collapse, or trying to play your instrument while it skitters across the floor (during a performance, no less, because why should life be easy), those are the devilments that haunt cello players. The Dycem Black Hole is the solution to playing chase the cello in slick floor situations. Can't help you with the collapsing endpin problems. If the Dycem gets a little less sticky, it responds really well to a quick dunk in dishwashing water. It doesn't work well for pebble-y surfaces. (But then again, it doesn't have to--does it?) I haven't found anything that works well for playing on beach sand. However, you are more likely to find yourself playing on the slick floor of a concert hall or pit than any of those other surfaces. For those situations, I highly recommend the Dycem Black Hole.

It works and does not slip. I wish the center was brass.
