Much better than the screws that generally come pre installed with machine heads.

Versatility is key

I bought both the nickel and gold versions of these screws, and used them to reattach the rear control panels on a couple of Black and Gold Les Pauls, after plugging the original holes with PVA and cocktail sticks. I also used one to attach a new pickguard, where a thicker screw wouldn't quite line up. And another four to attach an output jack plate. So I have found them to be very useful.
