To Die For Blu-Ray

The screenplay and production quality had a little to be desired, but the overall story and movie was highly entertaining. Many of the scenes appeared as though they were filmed against artificial backgrounds on green screens. The lead adolescent antagonist reaction to being shot in the arm appeared highly subdued, and the law enforcement playing a prank on the main character was pretty unrealistic. Perhaps some old battle buddies pulling it off would have been more believable; but it was clear that his buddies had apparently died, so I see why it went the way it did. I did like how the movie tied up emotional ends with the post-death reunion with friends, family, and the dog to try and counterbalance all the tragedy. Perhaps there are nuances from the screenwriter's experiences related to the content of which I am not aware, which could fill in gaps from my vantage point. Notwithstanding, these are all minimal impacts upon the movie overall and, as a combat veteran, I appreciate the effort to recognize and celebrate those of us who would literally die for our country despite the citizens who are clearly unappreciative of what is required for them to maintain their freedom to behave the way they can without fear of encroachment from a tyrannical government (for now, anyway). The single most striking line in the movie for me was "I was willing to sacrifice my life for your right to take a knee. What are you willing to sacrifice for my right not to?" Overall, I scored this movie with 4 out of 5 stars because I can see past production flaws and other menial theatrical issues for the story and thematic expression. I respect Mr. Schneider immensely for his effort and determination to bring these issues to the forefront of our society through the expression of theatrical entertainment. I can only imagine the painstaking and tedious process of creating a movie from start to finish, so I'm aware that my critique may lack consideration of the obstacles that are likely part of the course, but I give kudos nonetheless.

We received our dvd ahead of schedule and look forward to watching with family this weekend. Thanks to John Schneider for being a true American Patriot. This country needs more people like you. God bless you and God bless America! 🇺🇲

I would always support getting the education out about our country and supporting the flag. I was very disappointed in the quality of the film; it looked like you were in front of a green screen for most of it. The sound wasn't very good either.
