Wanted to Love It

Ordered this as a lightweight alternative. Looked great out of the box. Packed it up and headed to White mountains for a Presidential Traverse. I have been backpacking in the Whites more than 40 years. I know how to load and adjust a pack. The design is so minimalist that a very light , including water load at 21# shifted every few hundred steps. The lack of frame and lack of adjustability had load shifted to one side the whole trip. The exterior water bottle pockets don't hold normal smart water bottles. The straps are not positioned to hold bottles. at least 3-4 times, a bottle flew out while doing normal hiking. On the plus side, it was very waterproof. The main compartment/rolldown was easy to access and load. I hate giving a bad review but this just doesn't work for real backpacking

I was training for a section of the PCT wearing a weighted vest and finally switched to the Hyperlite Southwest 55. This is the pack I will wear on the PCT hike. The backpack is much lighter and fits all the items I need for the hike. Very comfortable on long hot walks (hikes).
