Good Idea, but Suction Cup Will Not Reliably Hold the Camera

I purchased this suction cup mount because I previously used the solid adhesive windshield mount for my Vantrue camera and had been happy with that setup. Unfortunately, I was involved in a car crash on July 15, 2026, and I was unable to remove the original adhesive mount from the windshield of that vehicle. I was able to save the camera, so when setting it up again I decided to purchase this suction cup version. I specifically chose the suction cup style because I use a similar type of mount for my radar detector and liked the idea of being able to remove and reposition the camera without permanently attaching another mount to the windshield. Unfortunately, this mount has not worked well for me. The weight of the camera, especially when the vehicle and windshield become hot, appears to be too much for the suction cup. The mount repeatedly loses suction and falls off the windshield. Once it falls, keeping the suction surface completely clean becomes another problem, and the reliability seems to get progressively worse. I have even tried using double-sided adhesive/sticking film in an attempt to help secure the suction cup, but I still cannot get the mount to remain reliably attached to the windshield. At this point, I am considering returning the suction cup mount and going back to a solid, permanent adhesive-style windshield mount. I really like my Vantrue camera and want to continue using it; my problem is specifically finding a mounting solution that I can trust to stay securely attached. If anyone from Vantrue is reading this review, I would genuinely appreciate some guidance. Is there a current Vantrue solid adhesive/permanent windshield mount that is compatible with my camera and can replace this suction cup mount? If so, I would much rather exchange or replace this mount with that option. The suction cup concept is convenient, but based on my experience, it simply has not been reliable enough to support the camera in real-world use, particularly in hot weather. I would be happy to update my review if Vantrue can help me find a more secure permanent mounting solution.

Wrong product

I’ve contacted the comp the explain they sent me a GPS mount for an N5. I have Nexus 4 Pro N4 Pro dash cam.. I’ve explained this at the first call to Vantrue and via an email after I was told on the phone everything would be fixed. Now they want to know why it doesn’t work. It’s just the wrong suction cup. To be quite honest, I don’t understand that misunderstanding.. LOL If you buy a dashcam from them, I like mine, and your adhesive mount fails as mine has. Your on you own..

Better than the adhesive pads

We live in South Florida and the adhesive pads could not take the heat. They were tearing in half and the camera was falling off of the windshield. We switched to the suction cup mount and the problem was solved. No more falling camera!
