I wore this CD out when it came out in 2003. It was on my car for very road-trip, breakup, let’s get dolled up head downtown & show ‘em what they’re missing’ girls. This was the soundtrack to some of the best years of my life. So when I heard they were releasing it on vinyl I had to it. Hell I had to have both of them! These were the early years of the band & of Willy’s songwriting & there are pure gems in here. Desolation Angels are still two of my favorite songs ever written. Also, if you love breaking down songs & “decoding” then Mersey Beat is AMAZING for that. Physically both the black & tan vinyls are beautiful. In true RK style there’s a fun little detail on the B side. The liner notes are great including a note from REK & thanks to old friends & “The Shed!” Really the only thing this record is missing is a “sorry for partying.” I’ll just hold on to that one when the neighbors come over to complain that I’ve been playing Under The Table & Above The Sun too loud.
