Excellence in a Bottle
After trying Hyperion, I immediately ordered two additional fragrance samples from Rubini. All three were stunning, unique, and high performing. I haven’t tried the other three, but I’m sure I will get around to it if for nothing other than curiosity’s sake. Rubini seems to be rooted in the Slow-As-You-Go theory. They put out a fragrance about once every two years. No flankers. No resting on their laurels. Each launch would make you think they just started from scratch. Of the three I’ve tried, all are proof that the time is well spent and produces well-considered and passionate results.
I was looking for a signature scent. I tried 39 fragrances over the course of 71 days. I ended up selecting two. One, I would classify as a business scent. For the other one, I wanted an ALL ME, and who cares what anyone else thinks fragrance, and Hyperion fit the bill. My exact handwritten notes from my first trial were: unusual but provocative, warm, candlelight, spicy without being food like, fire/flame, unfamiliar, and could still smell it the next day even after a shower.
Hyperion is unlike anything I have ever smelled. It’s strong, long lasting, and it evolves beautifully over time. I looked like an idiot because I couldn’t stop smelling myself. If I had to describe it in one word, I would say compelling. It smells like flames shooting out of a rocket, which doesn’t really sound appealing, but oddly, it is. Even so, it isn’t a smoky scent. It’s bold, but highly wearable across multiple seasons and occasions. This is well worth trying out, and if any of the other Rubini fragrances appeal to you, I would try them as well.
