The plug is out, the detector says the coin is still in the hole, and the pinpointer you bought to settle it is chattering at the red clay instead. The Minelab PRO-FIND 40 was built for that hole. Five sensitivity levels let you turn it down until the chatter stops, a Rapid Re-tune button resets it against the ground you are actually in,

This pinpointer is not as good as advertised in my opinion. It was not as sensitive nor as reliable as the Garrett AT Pro (Garrett Carrot). Think Minelab should do more research and development on this product.
