Not Living Up to Expectations
I waited to write this so I'd have a chance to live with it for a while and get through the honeymoon phase. I received the TWraps charger for my Mach E at the end of Jan, so have had it for about 6 months now.
The 2 major issues I faced with the factory setup were charging speed and the phone heating up. Using Android auto, the factory charger would basically keep my S23+ at the same level of charge... and I'd have to take it out of the case to keep it from getting hot.
Reading claims of a "fast charge" on the TWRAPS charger, and seeing the fit and magnets to keep phones in place to address the heat, and of course, all the great reviews, I thought this was it... the solution to my problems! I wanted it to be true, especialIy with the $100 price tag, but it's not really turning out that way.
The charging is faster than the factory, but I'm not getting true "fast charging". After my 25 minute commute to work, running Android Auto/Apple Carplay, I've only gained a small charge. With 2 phones, it barely adds charge at all.
With a mag case on my S23+, the charger held it in place awesome, developing far less heat than the factory set up. A few weeks ago, I switched to an iPhone 17 Pro Max, and with the case i purchased (simple slim case with magsafe, not an otterbox), I experienced extreme heating the couple times I tried to charge it on TWraps. I don't want to take it out of its case every time, so found myself putting my phone in the cup holder or passenger seat.
The package it comes in is great, fit in my car is great, build quality is great, magnets work great. Unfortunately, from an actual charging perspective, I have the same problems I had before.... Not fast charging, and too much heat.
If you want something to maintain charge while driving, this is a great option. Sleek, blends in like it was from the factory.
If you want something that's gonna have you stepping out with significantly more charge then when you got in, in my opinion, this isn't it.
