I recently purchased the Celestron Starsense Explorer LT 70AZ telescope as a birthday present for my 10-year-old granddaughter. She has been hinting for a telescope for some time and is very curious about the night sky, so this felt like the perfect choice. So far, I’m very impressed with the overall package. The concept of using a smartphone app to help locate objects in the sky is brilliant, especially for kids – it should make the first steps into astronomy much less intimidating and much more fun. The telescope feels well made, the instructions are clear, and the Australian Geographic ordering and delivery process was smooth and reliable. My granddaughter’s birthday is on 1 December, so she hasn’t used it yet, but I’m excited she will be absolutely thrilled. I see this as more than just a toy, it’s a way of encouraging her curiosity, learning and imagination under the night sky.
