Monterosa 2

Almost Perfect.

The Julbo Monterosa 2's are, contrary to the title a gave to this review, a perfect pair of sunglasses. Where they fall short, and the reason I only gave them 4 stars instead of 5, has strictly to do with the color options available and the annoying mismatch in color between the side guards and the rest of the frame. I find it distracting from the overall aesthetic when the small, square patch next to the ear, ie. the side guards, are a different color than the rest of the frame. Thankfully, I'm not using my Monterosa's at high elevations, surrounded by snow and ice, but around town where the side guards aren't mandatory. For this reason I removed them entirely and have had no issues since.

Work like a charm

This is my first pair of really good sunglasses. I have macular degeneration which causes lots of problems with glare, so the side protectors are really important. This model fits my small face perfectly so I am proected from all sides. My young(er) friends say I look really cool.

Still searching for the best.

The frame size fits my small face perfectly. They fit well even when wearing a climbing helmet. They are very light weight and are comfortable to wear all day. If that's all I had to say, then I'd give them 5 stars! But the inside coating of the reactiv lens makes them hard to clean during a long climb or mountain bike ride. Sweat drops and dust build up on the inside of the lens and using a cleaning cloth doesn't help that much. They need to be washed with soap and water. Kind of hard to do when you're on a multi-pitch climb. Lastly, and this is a 1/4 star deduction, is that the neoprene sunglass strap doesn't fit tightly enough on the arms for a secure fit.
