Cool new take on a barefoot shoe

I'm usually a size 10.5 and since these don't come in half-sizes, I went down a size thinking barefoot shoes are normally kind of bigger/roomier in the toe box. I wish I had sized up instead. But not the end of the world. I've owned many pairs of barefoot-styled shoes and these are a pretty new take I'd say. Most barefoot shoes look like clown shoes to me — the heel fits like a normal shoe but the toe box is so wide that it just looks strange. But Joa has taken this curvy approach where instead of the shoe following straight lines from either side of the heel to up to the front of the shoe, the shoe kind of curves so that it looks a bit narrower around the mid foot while still offering more space in the toe box. It's by far the most normal looking barefoot shoe I own, which is great. The leather is good and unless someone actually looks closely, they won't notice that it's a barefoot shoe. The laces have a layer of wax or something that makes them feel kind of nice. The sole of the shoe is appropriately thin for a barefoot shoe and after just a few outings in the city, there is a visible footprint of dirt on the underside of the shoe. That might sound like a bad thing, but I can actually see where my individual toes are touching the ground and the space between the toes and my forefoot. In that sense, this shoe feels very truly barefoot, which I appreciate. I've always found barefoot shoes to be oddly more comfortable than normal shoes despite having less cushioning, and these are no different. I can feel the ground with each step, feel small cracks in the pavement below, but my feet feel great. Hats off to Joa for a great (barefoot) white leather sneaker.

Ultimate barefoot luxury

Being a barefoot enthusiast, the only thing I wished was there to be a barefoot style shoe that was A) made of the highest quality leather and b) didn’t look and feel like a barefoot shoe…. JOA has delivered both. I barely wear any of my other pairs of barefoot shoe brands anymore. I’ve been wearing my white JOAs daily for over two years now. Still in amazing shape, leather is still soft, toe box is still not creased, easy to clean and I’m ready for my second and third pair. I wear these to work with suits all the time. Jeans, shorts. These sneakers look luxurious, high-end quality, just run a tad small, so recommend to go up one size. Simply the best dressed barefoot sneakers around. Hopefully Joa comes up with suède Chelsea boots one day…this is pure design-and craftmanship!
