A&C Copper/Sandvik Folder A+
Having an integral lever at base of blade to rotate it around pivot in & out of striking all-copper handle, this Andersson & Copra Urban Husky is a great-looking paradigm-shift in friction folders. Collecting pocket knives since a pre-schooler, I've never seen one with such a simple yet functional springless mechanism. Tension for me was fine as-is, but it can be adjusted with included tiny hex wrench. Don't know exactly what pivot material "phosphor bronze" is nor do I find "washers", but blade slides super-smooth when opening/closing. BLADE measures as described, 6 mm of its 15 mm W being the Scandi grind, & made of trusty 14C28N Sandvik steel with very hard 61-62 HRC. Shape is pretty close to Warnecliff, only angled slightly back from base to tip. Lever (with included leather lace threaded thru hole at one end, then knotted) obviates need for fingernail slot, so dangerously sharp blade is smooth but for A&C punctuated by hour-glass figure between on obverse side, "Sweden" on reverse. HANDLE, 99mm L × 19mm W × 5mm THK, is a study in simplicity, one piece of solid, heavy CU, folded evenly together & curved at either end, to protect blade. One hole for pivot. Geometric wolf-head intaglio near end of obverse side. Lays-flat-in-pocket slim SHEATH is one piece of vege-tanned leather folded together & stitched on both sides, with deep "Andersson & Copra" embossed on one side. Holds folder ultra-tight--you're gonna need that knotted leather lace to pull it out. Handmade in Gothenburg, this unusual 60-g friction folder is both handsome & functional, quite reasonable at $169.00.
