Pills right away, runs small

I got the 1-2 year size for my 18mo. The head hole is quite small, and the shirt overall runs small. I wish I sized up. I haven't washed it yet but it has already begun to pill significantly after just a few wears. It is nice and soft but not my favorite product from mama owl. We still will get lots of use from it and wear it until it is worn out.
