Dear Helle staff, This knife was a gift to my neice's husband. He likes to hunt etc. He now lives in Arizona, but if one goes up into the mountains, and gets out of the damned desert, there are indeed deer and elk in huntable populations. Sharpest knife I've ever seen. Beautiful craftsmanship overall, but the balance is a but off due to the stick tang. Would much prefer a full tang but overall the knife is superb. A knife i could see being handed down for a cpuple generations. Will definitely order more knives from Helle in the future.

Beautiful, maybe a little flawed

First of all, I think that 3mm is a little thick for a rat tang, since the utility you would get out of such a thick blade is only curbed by the lack of a full tang. It would weigh a little less and be functionally sharper with a thinner blade, but I knew what I was ordering so I can't really criticize it there. What I can criticize: The finish on the wood handle is questionable. It's pretty, but within the first week of owning it, the finish had rubbed off on half of the handle that sits in the sheath. After moisturizing the leather and refinishing the handle with tung oil, it's doing great, but I don't think I should have had to do so within only a few days of owning it.
