Beautiful dress, slightly awkward fit

The colour, lace and lining are all beautiful quality and richly coloured. I have this dress in both a size S and M (I generally wear an S/8 without issues by in most clothes and brands). I found this dress an odd fit. The S is perfect in the bust and waist but tight on the hips. The medium absolutely swims on the bust and waist, but is comfy on the hips. The waist is very high (much higher than most people’s natural waist), which disrupts the smooth lines/curves of the dress a little, unfortunately. The bust also has underwire which makes it tricky to fit. I’m a 10B and I prefer to wear a strapless bra with this dress. The cups are cut quite low (lower than a standard bra), which has meant buying a specific bra to fit. I imagine most cup sizes A, DD and beyond would find this a tricky fit.
