I think it’s definitely worth a few dollars to upgrade. I have a few days in between filling with mealworms. Our bluebirds don’t run out of food before I can get to it. We have many hungry birds. Hoping to find a good use for the original glass bowls and mounts.

This is a quality item that isn’t absolutely necessary, especially if you don’t have a large bluebird population. But if you have bluebirds that feed consistently all day, then this item will serve you well; holds at least a third of a cup more than the glass one that comes with every feeder. Ours requires filling only once per day.
