Twisted log cabin block

I love the look of the block but if is trimmed to 12 1/2 inches to give a 12 inch finished block. When it is sewn together it will cut off the 4 points of the outside row. Am I missing something? I feel those points should be in the block.

Clear instructions and good graphics

I printed several copies of the graphics, writing the measurements of specific pieces on each and clipping those pieces to the paper as I planned out my quilt. This method worked great for keeping the right pieces in the right places.
