Tone and Control
First let me say, thank you to SVS for not only creating musical and ground-shaking subs, but for bringing in a great speaker to compete against other well established speaker companies. I own a pair of Bose 601 series IV tower speakers, that I have had for about 24 years; they served their purpose musically, and for bringing movies to life. I also have a pair of bookshelf 6 series B&W's that are for my living room space, and they sound great being bi-amped. I compared the Ultra Evolution Titans and Pinnacles against the B&W 7 series, and the KEF R5 and R7 meta speakers. all of them great but the Titans took it home for me between all of them. The Titans provide that nice sonic bass kick, and musical tone when a bass guitar gets funky, or the electronic bass hits for R&B music and Soul. The B&W and Meta speakers had a touch more focus on their soundstage, but I preferred the open sound that the Titans brought. The soundstage was excellent as well for the Titans but having that open feel (Widened soundstage), felt like you were being immersed with sound and not only in the sweet spot. The band pass box for the Titans I will need to work with, to see how far I need them away from the wall for better overall bass in my room when I have them in Two channel stereo, but with two SVS subs in the room I really won't have to work to hard on that. Overall, I give the Titans a 5 star rating for their sonic bass, clear vocals that don't strain when pushing to reference level sound, and the tweeter fills the room with just enough crystal clear highs. I won't miss the Bose 601's, but I look forward to enjoying these speakers for the next 20 plus years. just as an fyi, I am pushing the Titans, and the ultra center with an Emotiva Basx A3+ amp, connected to a Marantz cinema 50 utilizing them in a 7.2.4. I will need to get a pair of ultra evolution bookshelves for my surround or nanos, to replace my Bose 201 bookshelves that I have used for the past 24 years.
