Lankeleisi MG740 Plus – 1000 km Review
After riding the Lankeleisi MG740 Plus for over 1000 km, here’s my review. In short, the bike is excellent. The tires are durable and comfortable—I haven’t had a flat yet. I’ve mostly ridden on roads but also taken it off-road on rough terrain, and the bike has held up well. The 26-inch wheels are large enough to handle city curbs at high speed. The seat is very comfortable, and the handlebars can be adjusted for an upright riding position, making for a smooth ride. If you haven’t ridden a fat-tire bike before, the soft tires absorb a lot of bumps, enhancing comfort. Because of the fat tires and comfortable seat, I feel like I don’t need the rear suspension of the Lankeleisi 800MAX for city riding. However, if you plan to do serious off-roading on rough dirt trails, I’d recommend the 800MAX model with rear suspension. For light off-roading, this bike handles just fine. One thing to note—fat tires don’t corner as well as regular-width tires. If you take a turn too fast, you’ll lose traction. I’ve fallen twice, but the bike took no damage. The build quality is top-notch. The bike has three drive modes: • Rear motor only • Front motor only • Dual-motor (both front & rear) Each mode has five PAS (pedal assist) levels, where 0 = no assist and 5 = maximum power/speed. Range Test (My Weight: 69kg | Height: 187cm | Cold Weather Conditions) • Dual-motor, PAS 5 (46 km/h), 4°C → 35 km • Single rear motor, PAS 5 (40 km/h), 8°C → 41 km • Single rear motor, PAS 3 (35 km/h), 6°C → 48 km • Single rear motor, PAS 2 (28 km/h), 4°C → 61 km • Single rear motor, PAS 1 (18 km/h) → Not tested (estimated ~85 km) I didn’t test PAS 1 because it would take around 5 hours to ride, and honestly, nobody buys this bike to go 18 km/h. But in warmer weather, expect about 20% more range than my results. Acceleration Tests • Dual-motor, PAS 5: • 0 → 30 km/h = 5s • 0 → 35 km/h = 6.5s • 0 → 40 km/h = 8s • Single rear motor, PAS 5: • 0 → 30 km/h = 10s • 0 → 35 km/h = 15s The torque is strong, and the bike can climb any hill I’ve tested with no issues. I’d say this bike is a bit overpriced for its class. You can find similar power and battery capacity for a lower price in other e-bikes. However, I believe the extra money went into build quality, and it shows. One big plus is the 3-year warranty, while most cheaper bikes only offer 1 year. That alone helps justify the price. • Shipping was fast—it arrived in 5 days from Poland to Croatia. • The bike was well-packaged, with plenty of protection. No scratches or damage. • Assembly is simple: you just need to attach the front wheel and handlebars. The instructions are clear, and it took me about 2 hours. Important Tip: Check all bolts before riding! I didn’t, and a bolt holding the rear fender fell off. However, the bolts securing the rear wheel and torque arm are very strong and give confidence that the bike is solidly built. • Brakes: Very strong and powerful, more than enough for the bike’s weight. • Right lever = Front brake • Left lever = Rear brake • Display: Bright and easy to read in sunlight. • Controls: Well-placed throttle, buttons, and shifters. There’s extra room for accessories. The only issue I had was a misaligned rear disc brake, but it was an easy fix. I contacted customer support via email, and they responded within a day with a helpful video tutorial. Great support! I’d recommend this bike to anyone looking for a reliable, worry-free riding experience. It’s well-built, powerful, and comfortable, with great range and solid after-sales support.
