Kids' Merino Wool Base Layer, Blue Spruce

My children attend an outdoor forest school, so we were looking for a good wool-blend base layer. I decided to splurge on these expensive ones instead of ordering a similar and cheaper version on Amazon. Oaki has always been a well loved brand with the children that attend our forest school. After only a handful of uses, I was disappointed to find that these base layer sets began to pill and small holes developed in areas that were unlikely to be from the kids activity. But it seems that the base layers kept them warm. I reached out to Oaki about this and they were very receptive and immediately replaced the items. I was impressed with their customer service and kindness! Perhaps my pairs were defective—we will be testing out the replacements once the weather gets cold again.

As a forest school teacher and parent, these have become my indispensable starting point for my nine and eleven year olds’ cool weather dressing. They have opinions about what they wear and really dislike bulk. These are a great way for me to take the power struggle out of morning dressing. We also love the fleece lined rain pants, but sadly, my eleven year old has sized out of the available options. Which reminds me—I would love to have these base layers and the cozy rain pants available in my size too!!

Great base

These are soft, reasonably thick and comfortable. My kids especially like the thumb holes. They also wash very well. The color is gorgeous and they fit well with room to grow. Great set.
