I don't want to talk down on the product but the truth is that the quality of the camera is bad enough to make you need a higher mp. I strongly suggest if you're going to do any measuring or trying to capture an image/video to keep or show off. I have tried using both versions of the app, downloadable from the disk and the website and both versions will allow you to view through the camera but where the buttons are on the screen do not line up with where you actually have to click in order to make the app capture a video or picture. The buttons on the side of the app that allow you to do those things get cut off so you cannot access any of the apps features other than capturing a video. I am hoping I can return and get a better camera at least.
