Kuro Hanten

The hanten is very warm and fits well. The shoulders are a bit bulky and stiff but with time and use, I'm sure they'll soften and relax. Right now I do look somewhat like a short samurai warrior when I wear it - I have a good laugh but I'm comfy and very happy with the excellent quality fabric and sewing.

Stylish and snug

I wore my first hanten (purchased in Kumamoto in the '80s!) for decades -- until the lining disintegrated. So delighted with my new one from Kimonōji. While it is lighter weight than the cotton-batting-lined one of my youth, it is available, affordable, and looks like it will do the job of keeping me snug in the chilly, damp Northumbrian cottage where I now find myself.

The jacket is very cosy and warm. When I have to work work in my air-conditioned office, it is nice to wear and keeps me warm.
