Soft and though as a larger older person I can't snap it together easily it fits great on my chair arms against my table. Makes a difference.

The quality of the product is pretty good and I was looking forward to use it for my knitting and crochet sessions. But it did not work for me as it is too bulky for me and no matter how I adjust posture, I had neck pain.

Love it! Firm surface extends far enough around to rest both long, heavy knitting and my arms. Also makes a great pillow to slip behind my head to support neck when knitting on sofa makes me sleepy.
