Terrible Fading After Wash

I just received this adorable backpack and because it was so stiff initially, I washed it. It came out of the washing machine, terribly faded in the black and red sections. Now it looks like we’ve been using it for 10 years. I have other fluff products that have washed and came out perfectly fine, so it must be just this particular pigment on the canvas. None of this changes the functionality of the bag, but is disappointing from a brand new product and would not consider this color pattern washer friendly. Despite the fading, the bag is an adorable size for a little kid and the straps seem long enough to accommodate an adult as well.
