The disc is worth getting for the contributions from Jonathan Rigby, Kevin Lyons, and the always lovable Kim Newman. The movie itself looks great and is noteworthy for being so unusual in the vampire genre, to the extent that this not-very-bloody entry qualifies as a vampire film, but this is definitely a case where I enjoyed the commentary more than the actual movie. The highlight of the latter is easily the brief but eye-popping and garish sunlight-withering sequence viewers get at the end.

My favorite VS release of the year so far. Had never even heard of it before, so this was a blind buy for me. A definite recommendation to anyone who loves horror films from this time period, such as the classics from Hammer. Slipcover is awesome.

Like Paul Bowles directing a vampire movie

Peculiar late 60s British vampire film that avoids the traditional tropes associated with vampires. Actually takes place in Morocco and feels sort of like as if Paul Bowles had written a vampire story. Has some of the dodgiest day for night scenes you'll ever see, however they somehow work for this movie because it looks like they're in perpetual dusk. Money saving move produces unique atmosphere! I didn't like this as much as Kim Newman, but I do think this is an interesting rarity and I am looking forward to watching it again.
