’09 Highlander JBL rear door replacements

These 6.5 speakers are awesome sounding in my 2009 Toyota Highlander limited JBL stereo back doors. However because of the way Toyota and JBL manufacture designed the factory amplifier it will not push these speakers enough even though the intricate sound from them is just so nice. And then theres one problem that has me boggled about one speaker. When I first installed them they played nice and aggressive with no issues, but then the next day I drove out turned on the stereo and played great then something happened. One speaker (right side) started making this Blop noise. It occurred to me that it didn’t sound right so I took it out examined it. I found that the little black integrated crossover was loose but still looked solder to the wire connection. So I installed it once again played the stereo and everything seemed fine again. Next day was driving stereo playing great tunes and again after around 30 minutes the same speaker started that Blopping noise even at the lowest volume. After that I’ve made adecision that its something defective with the Vega 6.5 I am returning them and will have to make a new decision for rear door speakers which truly breaks my heart because I really love Cerwin Vega speakers they just sound so awesome. However I could go and put an amplifier change into my system but I am not really into the extra loud thumping anymore and would just like a system that rocks hard and aggressive, doesnt even need to be extremely loud but just that clean heavy sound of detailing in the music. But if you were going to use an amplifier WOW this line of Vega will make it happen for you. I hope this review is helpful to someone with a Highlander needing advice for their system.

I installed them & had to make a minor adjustment with the mounting bracket, but they work fine & sounds good

Good speakers.

I upgraded my factory speakers in my 2005 prius with these, pairing it with a JL audio JD400/4 and they sound great, i am happy. The speaker bracket they gave me didnt fit for the speakers or my prius, unless i didnt put them in right, so i had to order separate brackets. Not complaining though.
