I am a 51 inch chest and struggled to find a size big enough with other premium brands. I think this was fitting up to 53 inch which is possibly why its loose, but it does not affect the wearing or useability. If anything it allows for more layers. The fit, cut and waterproof performance is great on the trails lower back for protection from up spray and large hood to accommodate the helmet. Does exactly what it says on the tin! A very practical and valuable piece of MTB kit for winter
